Viaduct Lounge // The space is known for its breathtaking city views. Two walls of big windows frame a panorama of illuminated skyscrapers and the concrete and steel bridge that links the east and west sides. After dark, the urban landscape sparkles in all its gritty glory and becomes part of the decor, which also features honey-toned wood and sleek contemporary furnishings. Formerly occupied by Ponte Vecchio, this spot became home to Viaduct Lounge in October. The restaurant’s menu includes a small selection of meat and seafood entrees, but the real focus is on smaller plates, salads and a raw bar with shellfish-shrimp cocktail, crab slaw, tuna tartar and raw oysters. These are ideal for sharing, grazing and pairing with the interesting lineup of beers, wines and cocktails. For something different, try the Pierogi Neapolitan ($11). Like a pizza, the deconstructed dumpling has the filling on the surface instead of folded inside. In this version, you use thin cracker-crisp triangles of dough to convey duck confit, fennel apple kraut and drizzles of creme fraiche from plate to mouth. Triton tempranillo, a nice tart and earthy red from Spain, available by the glass ($8), was a good match.
