How to End Poverty in 90 Minutes (with 119 People You May or May Not Know)
Part play, part town hall meeting, this theatrical take on civic engagement is like nothing you’ve ever seen. Cleveland Public Theater’s How to End Poverty in 90 Minutes is an experiment in audience involvement, dialogue and social change that puts $1,000 on the line. Over 90 minutes of monologues, musical numbers and discussion, the audience deliberates how they will help stop poverty, specifically by deciding where to donate $1,000 of the night’s box office. Participants choose a cause from one of five categories: daily needs, system change, making opportunities, education and direct aid. Enter the theater with 119 people you may or may not know, and leave with a deeper understanding of class, service and community. $25 (or pay what you can).
