Runway to Real Life

Discover your personal style or add a trendy twist to your closet at Lush Boutique.
So you’re on the prowl for a Glamour-worthy look — a statement T-shirt, maybe a pair of Joe’s Jeans (the label that Oprah wears) or a swingy dress to juice up your wardrobe.

Head to Lush Boutique, the store at Eton Chagrin Boulevard known for its fashion-forward fare and owners.

It’s where Rachael Ray scoured the racks when she featured the boutique in her magazine last year. TLC’s Makeover Story and Fox’s Fashion Ambush stopped by for its Cleveland makeovers in 2003. And this January, Style Network’s Peter Perfect shopped here.

Sisters and owners Tracey and Kathleen McHale go beyond the labels commonly found in department stores to bring their customers a truly unique selection of brands and designers.

Take one look at the duo — dressed on any given day in skinny jeans tucked into knee-high boots or a camisole expertly layered underneath a cozy cardigan — and you will feel the urge to at least try on anything they suggest.

Whether it’s a dress with a graphic print detail or a Susana Monaco turtleneck dress ($160) made from wrinkle-free supplex, the women have a knack for putting together ensembles that look effortessly hip.

“We do a lot of novelty — we pick out specialty items,” says Tracey. “People like pieces they can wear with clothing they already have.”

She points to a smart tailored jacket in royal blue by Tulle ($95) and shows off the vintage detail on a campy polo knit dress with a frilled collar by Project e ($90). These prices surprise women who expect boutiques to charge big bucks. “We work extra hard to bring in pieces that fit well and are reasonably priced,” Tracey says.

She continues pulling pieces, showing how a Grecian top with gold braid accents by Sky ($130) works for a 20-something. A jersey tunic top by Custo Barcelona ($140) is partnered with jeans, not leggings, for a more mature woman.

While the store stocks formalwear, everyday clothing, lingerie, shoes and accessories, its Denim Bar featuring select designer jeans such as Joe’s Jeans and J Brand is a must-see. A handy questionnaire offers a no-stress way to find the perfect fit.

“We are such a melting pot in here, there is no way one cut will fit everyone,” Tracey says. “We concentrate on the cut.”
