Bigmouth Donuts

Why we love it: With 15 monstrous options to choose from, Bigmouth Donuts is no joke. “We are staying true to making original, scratch-made doughnuts with all-natural ingredients,” says owner Kelly Brewer. “People know doughnuts are an indulgent food, but when they eat ours, they feel like they are eating something better.”
Try this: The Apple Snap ($2.50) is an apple cider yeast doughnut topped with ginger crumble and rosemary. 19265 Detroit Road, Rocky River, 216-282-8228, bigmouthdonut.com

Goldie's Donuts

Why we love it:
Dustin Goldberg has perfected classic doughnuts such as glazed, cream-filled and more. “Doughnuts already have a cult following,” he says. “We’re not trying to overload with the toppings.”
Try this: You don’t need a campfire to enjoy Goldie’s s’mores doughnut ($1.30), a chocolate-covered treat with mini marshmallows and crumbled graham cracker. 5211 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst, 440-683-4746, goldiesdonuts.com

Jack Frost Donuts:

Why we love it:
It might take a while to sort through more than 50 options at Jack Frost Donuts. But if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can always make a suggestion. “We will pretty much make anything,” says general manager Colleen Ontko.
Try this: The maple bacon doughnut ($1.95) is a fluffy treat with a sweet, house-made maple icing and overflowing crunchy bacon bits. 4960 Pearl Road, Cleveland, 216-351-3638, jackfrostdonutsusa.com

Spudnuts

Why we love it:
Satisfy your late-night sweet tooth at Spudnuts. “We make batches throughout the day,” says owner Geta Sidley. “That way we keep them as fresh as possible.” Made with a mixture of potato and wheat flour, they’re densely delicious.
Try this: The pumpkin fried cake doughnut (85 cents) is a real fall treat with a cake-like texture and classic glaze. 6930 Center St., Mentor, 440-255-7257

Vegan Doughnut Co.

Why we love it:
Sisters Kharisma and Kyra Mayo started selling their vegan doughnuts in 2018 with a glazed twist, cookie dough and more as an alternative treat. “It just kind of blew up from there,” says Kharisma.
Try this: The lemon lavender ($2.50) is equal parts sweet and tart with lemon frosting and fresh lavender on top. 14811 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216-712-4192, thevegandoughnutco.com
