News: Here is a Clevelander's guide to voting in the November election.

By Cleveland Magazine staff

Election Day is Nov. 3, and the deadlines to get ready for it are closer than you think. Voter registration and updates are due by Oct. 5, early in-person voting starts Oct. 6, and absentee ballot requests run through Oct. 27.

At the Polls: Bring a photo ID — driver's license, passport, state ID, military ID or VA card. Forgot yours? You can still cast a provisional ballot, but you must submit valid ID to your county board within four days.

Can't Make It Nov. 3? Absentee ballots are available for anyone, not just those away from home, and early voting runs at county boards of elections through Nov. 1.

Worth Noting: Polls are open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and anyone in line by closing time still gets to vote. Check your precinct and sample ballot at voterlookup.ohiosos.gov.

ParkView Asset Intelligence draws on 35-plus years of maintenance records and nearly a million serviced assets to help enterprise IT teams decide whether to refresh, repair or retire equipment. Data that CEO Chris Adams says was previously visible only to original manufacturers.

Guides: Here are Northeast Ohio clambakes to check out.

By Cleveland Magazine staff

Fall clambake season is in full swing, and our guide rounds up where to shuck and slurp across Greater Cleveland. From lakefront patios to wine country estates, the region's clambake trail runs from now through November.

Classic Spreads: Alley Cat Oyster Bar's patio bake (Oct. 24, $65) and Brennan's Fish House's Sunday feasts in Grand River ($43.24) both pair a dozen clams with chowder, chicken, corn and sides.

Something Different: CLE Urban Winery pairs its Oct. 16 clambake with a live music set, while Euclid Fish Co. offers a to-go version complete with a rentable burner and steamer for the DIY crowd.

Worth Noting: Some spots run clambakes every weekend through October or November — Winking Lizard, Salty Mary's and Pickle Bill's among them — so there's no shortage of chances to dig in.

Yesterday's Trivia Answer

What Cleveland philanthropist and poet endowed book awards in 1935 in honor of her father and husband? Edith Anisfield Wolf

Check back tomorrow for the answer to today's question.

From the Editor

Registering to vote is the easy part. The deadline is Oct. 5, and Ohio makes it possible online in minutes.

What's on the ballot this fall is anything but small. Ohioans pick a new governor, choosing between Vivek Ramaswamy and Amy Acton, and decide a heated U.S. Senate race between Jon Husted and Sherrod Brown. Closer to home, Cuyahoga County voters weigh in on the developmental disabilities levy, Issue 10.

Local elections shape daily life as much as national ones. Don't sit this one out.
