There is a rock god. After praying to the lord of thunderous power chords for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voters to finally enshrine Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Sex Pistols (“Disco Hangover,” November 2005), we were pleased to learn in late November that all three acts are part of the Rock Hall’s class of 2006. Miles Davis and Blondie will also be inducted March 13 at Manhattan’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Black Sabbath spent the most time on the ballot and it’ll be interesting to see if Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne has finally had second thoughts about his 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame calling his band’s nomination “totally irrelevant.” We bet America’s favorite prince of darkness/family man will be there for the honor. We also bet the evening will be filled with a few too many cries of “Play ‘Freebird!’ ” www.rockhall.com
