Little EmporiYum Bakery’s savory take on usually sweet macarons is a tasty shock to our system. Inspired by an influencer’s baking challenge during the pandemic, owner Jessica Gallagher started making macarons ($30 per dozen) because they work well with a variety of flavor profiles.

“Anything that you love, like dessert, fruit or chips, you can turn into a macaron,” she says. Her monthly themed flavors have included cotton candy and watermelon, but her savory flavors (which also rotate monthly), have included popcorn, tangy ranch corn chip and everything bagel varieties. The result is a treat full of flavor and textures thanks to the macarons’ crunchy exterior and creamy middle.

For October, she’s planning a fall-ready cheddar apple flavor, and November’s macarons will be charcuterie inspired. “I’m more of a cheesy, spicy, salty girl if I’m going for a snack,” Gallagher says. facebook.com/littleemporiyumbakery
