Craft Beer Doughnuts
Our favorite morning treats and constant bar companion come together for our new favorite boozy indulgence. Brewnuts creators John Pippin and Shelley Fasulko started using craft beer in their doughnut recipes last October and have since brewed up more than 25 varieties of pint-inspired confections ($3). "Doughnuts have always been one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods," says Fasulko. "It's a very classic, blue-collar traditional piece of Americana." The couple infuses either the glaze or the doughnut (sometimes both) with beer to create popular varieties such as the Bernie, a glazed classic made with Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s Dortmunder Gold, or the Bumbler, a cake version made with Fat Head's Bumble Berry Honey Blueberry Ale and speckled with blueberries. "Our customers know that this is our baby," says Fasulko. "We are the only two making them in the shop, and they appreciate how hard we work at it." 2406 Professor Ave., Cleveland, 216-744-5424, 440-476-6682, brewnutscle.com
