Best Of Cleveland: Cold Coffee Refresher

Coffee Coffee Coffee proves it knows a thing or two about elevated carbonation with the Espres-soda.

Trey Kirchoff never much liked Frappuccinos or caramel lattes. But the Coffee Coffee Coffee owner’s Espres-soda ($4), a strange, delicious marriage between espresso and Italian sodas, is a zesty take on such sweet sippers. Free of synthetic sweeteners and anything that might brand you #basic, the 12-ounce concoction is a zingy, rich mix of Phoenix Coffeehouse’s chocolatey Firebird espresso, Pellegrino and the Home Pantry’s strawberry, peach or rhubarb syrups. Kirchoff’s collaboration with the Home Pantry, a home goods producer that creates flavored syrups from local produce, ensures that the Espres-soda’s flavors are approachable, but free of the additives that feature heavily in many sweet coffee options. “It’s a very high quality ingredient that’s made right down the street,” says Kirchoff. “Those idealistic, artisanal, local things are always what we’re striving for.” 4193 Pearl Road, Cleveland, 440-941-8850, instagram.com/oldbkcoffee
