Frosé turned wine slushies into a phenomenon. At Nectar of the Vine, the Middlefield company offers a spin on the icy drink with its wine frappes. The powdered product of pure natural cane sugar, spices and flavoring ($13 each) comes in a variety of delicious flavors such as best-seller pomegranate, chocolate martini, wild sour apple and pumpkin spice cocktail. Just mix with a bottle of wine and equal amounts of water, then stir and freeze. The results are unexpectedly refined, super-refreshing and just tart enough to feel elegant. “My mother was a fan of sweet wines and didn’t care for dry,” says COO Anthony Nastasi, whose mother, Carol, and stepfather, Dennis Hart, started the company in 2006. “Her friends would bring over [dry wine] and she’d say, ‘What am I going to do with this?’ That’s how it evolved: What can you do with a dry wine to make it sweet?” 15010 Berkshire Industrial Parkway, Middlefield, 440-273-8183, nectarofthevine.com
