If you ever wanted to learn how to master cooking techniques from Zhug chef and owner Douglas Katz and other notable local chefs, now’s your chance. In July, University Circle Inc. kicked off its Circle Food Tour, a digital semimonthly series aiming to connect Cleveland residents with notable East Side chefs through livestreamed cooking demonstrations that show off each chef’s best-kept secrets and techniques.

The concept comes as an offshoot to Circle Connects, University Circle Inc.’s digital programming in response to COVID-19. “It’s about reminding people of the restaurants that are out here and getting to know their head chefs by reconnecting to the places in which they’re in,” says University Circle Inc.’s president Chris Ronayne.

The event, which has highlighted demonstrations from Zack Bru-ell of L’Albatros Brasserie & Bar, Seth Bromberg of Kantina and others continues this month with a yet-to-be-determined chef on Sept. 6 and Katz on Sept. 20. For each demonstra-tion, viewers can purchase their own ingredients or pick up prepackaged kits ($50) ahead of the event from the chef’s restaurant.

With much success, Ronayne says they hope to continue this series in the fu-ture. “We’re not going to stop building experiences, and we’re not going to stop educating,” he says. univeristycircle.org
