If like Ken Kish, you believe the worst horror movie ever made is the next slasher flick Hollywood puts out, Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo may provide a long suppressed fright. Kish, event owner and promoter, recommends four films to see — if you dare — at the 27th roundup of drive-in and indie horror films held April 10 to 12 at Holiday Inn Cleveland-Strongsville.

 

Hard to Die

Part of the Sorority House Massacre series, five scantily clad women suspect a janitor is to blame for a series of killings. There's rapid gunfire and supernatural elements but it's more laughable than frightening.

 

Equinox

A book opens a portal to another dimension filled with monsters that appear only mildly spooky due to outdated '70s special effects and a low budget in this demonic flick, which inspired The Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi.

 

Day of the Dead

The convention headliner promises spilled guts, blown-out brains and a look into the psyche of the last people on Earth running from zombies in this bleak conclusion to George A. Romero's Trilogy of the Dead.

 

The Haunting

Gritty black-and-white images and the legend of the haunted Hill House create a mysterious fear factor. It lacks gore, but its plot and pacing will leave viewers questioning the creaks they hear in the night.
