Northeast Ohio natives Nici and Andi Lucas share that special bond only sisters can know. So one holiday season when Andi, who was living in Boston, was laid up with a broken ankle, Nici sent her a box of 12 gifts, one for each day of Christmas. Fifteen years passed, but Andi returned the favor to her sis in Cuyahoga Falls last December, sparking the idea for their Days of Gifts online gifting service. "It's about the element of surprise and enjoyment of the moment," says Andi. Here are three reasons to get wrapped up in the service.
The gifts — for either six, eight or 12 days — come in one box with instructions to open a single package each day. "Our whole lives have had this theme of surprises," Nici says. "We never tried to find our presents when we were kids."
As a young girl, Nici's Christmas wish wasn't for a Barbie or Easy-Bake Oven. "My parents bought me a Green Machine," she recalls. "I was a tomboy, and I ruined many dresses riding around on it."
Like eHarmony for gifts, the Days of Gifts service uses customer surveys to tailor gifts to the sex, age and interests of the recipients. "Our gifts are customized," Andi says. So men might get candles that smell like bacon, sawdust and fresh-cut grass, and women might find soaps infused with herb and wine scents or Earl Grey tea flavored lip balm.
