How To | Pour a Beer

by Laura Crawford | Nov. 20, 2008 | 5:00 AM

Three days into a 10-day stintat the Bartender School of Pittsburgh I learned if you like a little “bite” (carbonation) to your beer, tilt your glass at a 45-degree angle and pour down the side until it’s half-full. Then stand the glass up and pour into the center. The froth should be about two finger-widths. To avoid burps, keep the glass upright and pour until you get two inches of foam. Wait a few minutes, then continue until your glass is full.
