What’s in a Name?
For the last year, Hospitality Restaurants have been mum about the details of its latest eatery, slated to open in Hudson in November. So while Hospitality president George Schindler still has his lips sealed about the exact type of cuisine (although he did mention it would be seasonally changing), he did give us a name to chew on for the next month — Rosewood Grille. “[Our] new property will be a casually sophisticated neighborhood grill — polished, yet comfortable,” he says of the spot that will replace the Inn at Turner’s Mill.
Triple Threat
A few good three-course dining deals to sample this month:
LeFever’s River Grille in Cuyahoga Falls has reopened as The River Brasserie & Bar, with new vintage décor and a menu heavy on local meats and produce. Owner David Slaght says it was important to incorporate the history of the building, a former hydroelectric plant built in 1914, as well as that of the city. Ohio tastes will be reflected in the new menu, developed by chef Michael Fiala, with poultry from Loudonville, lettuce from Orrville and fish from Cleveland.
Flying In
When Garage Bar owners Jeff and Ursula Allison appeared on the cover of our 2005 Most Interesting People issue, they had two plans in mind: have a baby and expand Garage Bar to other cities. With their Columbus location up and running, and their first child due this month, the couple is ready for their next venture. The couple’s new Cocktail lounge, Dragonfly, will open this fall in the former City Buddha spot, says Ursula. Plans for the bar will come in two phases: First, a lounge, followed by a pan-Asian and sushi bar and dining area later this year.
Speak Easy
Fans of old-school cocktails have a new spot to try with Sam McNulty’s Speakeasy (below the Bier Markt) now open on weekends. When the chandelier at the back of the Markt lights up, it’s time to head downstairs.
Out to Lunch
Staring Oct. 2, Fire Food and Drink will be open for lunch Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A trial run for the restaurant, the midday service will be offered through the end of the year.

- Make Saturday date night at Vue in Hudson where a three-course dinner is $34 per person and includes a choice of salad to start, scallops or beef tenderloin and a flourless chocolate torte or butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Opt for wine pairings for an extra $15.
- At Metropolitan Café, the three-course, $15.90 menu incldues a wedge salad, choice of Lake Erie walleye, lobster marscarpone ravioli, crab cakes or slow-roasted chicken, with red velvet cake for dessert.
- Or stop in at Hyde Park for the sea and shore dinner including salad, a 7-ounce filet and your choice of scallops, crab cakes or scampi-style jumbo shrimp. Finish it off with vanilla bean crème brûlée, cheesecake or key lime pie, all for $39.90.
