M. Lang Executive Attire is known for its unpretentious approach to men’s fashion — owner Michael Lang is a whiz at helping guys put together a stylish, hip look. Now he’s upping the cool factor: Lang recently unveiled a cocktail lounge inside the store. He hopes the new addition will create a more relaxing shopping atmosphere and help reinvent his 20-year-old business. “You always have to think outside of the box or you won’t survive,” he says. “I saw a good opportunity to get more people to come to Euclid [Avenue], and I took it.”

Chocoholics cheered in late May when Tremont’sLilly Handmade Chocolates opened its doors. The shop, just down the street from Lucky’s, offers an assortment of hand-rolled truffles and molded chocolates with no preservatives. Owner Amanda Montague cooks up 18 flavors daily, such as the signature Lilly, a truffle born of apple, cardamom, lemongrass infusion and white chocolate ganache. Montague began her foray into chocolate after graduating from culinary school, doling out homemade treats to her family at Christmas. She was determined to open her own business, and at 25 she’s already achieved her goal with the funky, hot pink boutique she calls her “contribution to the world.” Montague named the business after her favorite flower, the tiger lily. “[Tiger lilies] are warm, happy and loving, and to me chocolate is all those things and more,” she says.
