Bar owners, consider this a challenge. Former Cleveland Indians first baseman and current Mariner Richie Sexson has a Monday-night beer special in his (dis)honor at a Seattle bar. Norm’s Eatery & Ale House hosts “Cheap Sex on Monday” throughout the season, during which the price of a Bud Light rises and falls with Sexson’s batting average. Last season, he averaged .205 ($2.05 in Bud Light prices), markedly higher than the .160 at which he started the season. Bartender Brad Tunnell says the special took a while to catch on, but it got big after the 2007 All-Star break. The bar, owned by Oberlin native Steve Habecker, plans to run the promotion again this season. So here’s our proposal: We challenge one of our city’s bar owners to come up with a punny name for a drink special honoring previously struggling
Tribe hitter Andy Marte as he tries to make it in the Bigs this year. We will be there with our change.
