Whether you spent quarantine working on your fitness or you’re looking for an excuse to get off the couch, summer’s sunshine and warm temps make it the perfect time to hit the pavement. Not really a runner? That’s OK — even if you’re more motivated by the promise of snacks than a medal at the finish line, there’s a race for you. Here are some of our favorites, ranging from an easy one mile to a more ambitious 8K.

Akron Marathon National Interstate 8K and 1 Mile
Part of the Akron Marathon Race series, this June 26 run takes you through the University of Akron campus and downtown Akron, including its new Main Street. “The day includes loud live music, food and adult beverages, volunteers cheering the way and an indescribable feeling of community,” says Anne Bitong, president and CEO of the Akron Marathon. akronmarathon.org

The Classic at Mastick
Run with a purpose during this Aug. 11 cross-country 5K that raises money for college scholarships. The flat, fast route takes runners through the South Mastick area of Rocky River Reservation. “It is a beautiful route with a very upbeat vibe and great spectating,” says race director Jay Toole. runsignup.com/race/oh/fairviewpark/theclassicatmastick

Parma Run-Walk For Pierogies
Known for its cult-status T-shirts featuring anthropomorphic pastries and pierogies at the finish line (this year offers runners a certificate for free pierogies at Perla Pierogies), this July 3 race in Parma offers 1-mile and 5K distances. “My goal has always been to promote a healthy lifestyle, support local charities and provide a fun, family event for folks,” says director Sean Brennan. runsignup.com/race/oh/parma/runwalkforpierogies
