Beat the dog days of summer by watching gravity work its magic at the All-American Soap Box Derby world championships at the Derby Downs track in Akron. Champions from all over the world are itching to ride down the 989-foot hill in their carefully constructed, homemade, plastic kit cars, with derby week running from July 19 to 23.

“Through the derby we’re building knowledge, character and creating meaningful experiences for these children throughout the country to put together cars and race,” says president and CEO Mark Gerberich. “If you build something that works, you get a sense of accomplishment. Kids getting that sense of accomplishment is so important in today’s world.”
