Tap Into Your Artistic Side At FRONT

If you ask someone what first comes to mind when you say “Cleveland,” they might say sports, food ... or even construction. But Fred Bidwell wants them to think about art and culture.

So he hatched the idea of an arts triennial — an event that happens every three years. “It is going to be this great collaboration of art institutions in Northeast Ohio,” says the CEO and executive director of Front International. Starting July 14, more than 100 local, national and international artists come together for eight institutional exhibits, more than 15 outdoor exhibits and dozens of other projects.

On display at spots like MOCA Cleveland and the Akron Art Museum, the art focuses on cultural, economic and social issues such as the shooting of Tamir Rice and immigration. “It will bring attention to the world-class artists we have here,” Bidwell says.
