Taste of Little Italy
More than 1,000 guests feasted on Italian food and wine at the Montessori School at Holy Rosary Sept. 17, during the annual Taste of Little Italy celebration. Forty of Cleveland’s finest Italian restaurants and bakeries took part in the benefit for the school’s scholarship fund. Rocco Scotti made a special appearance, Opera Cleveland provided entertainment, and guests had the chance to win a trip to Tuscany. Cleveland Magazine was a sponsor of this event.
Instrumental Evening for the Earth
The ninth annual Earth Day Coalition benefit, Instrumental Evening for the Earth, will be Nov. 9 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The event features a gourmet reception by Mustard Seed Market at Trinity Cathedral, concert by members of The Cleveland Orchestra and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit the environmental education and leadership programs of the Earth Day Coalition. United Way Campaign Kick-off and Pancake Flip
Public Square was filled with local celebrities and business leaders for the 2006 United Way Campaign Kick-off and Pancake Flip Sept. 7. More than 1,900 breakfasts were served by the likes of Cuyahoga County commissioners Jimmy Dimora and Tim Hagan, Cleveland Magazine publisher Frank Bird and editor Steve Gleydura, Ohio Magazine publisher Lute Harmon Jr. and marketing director Michelle Berry, WVIZ Ideastream’s Elaine Falk and more. The Warrensville Heights High School Drum Line provided the drumroll as the United Way announced its campaign goal of $43.6 million.
Crème de la Femme
Local female chefs prepare delectable dishes for the Women’s Community Foundation’s third annual Crème de la Femme Nov. 13 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Play House. Tickets are $65 each and proceeds help cover the organization’s operating expenses and fund its grants to organizations that optimize the potential of local women and girls. 2006 American Red Cross Hero Awards
The 2006 American Red Cross Hero Awards recognize ordinary Northeast Ohioans for their extraordinary courage, compassion, character and humanity.
