The Must-Do List: Board the USS Cod Submarine Memorial

Navigate the inside of the World War II vessel.

It may no longer navigate the rough waters of the Pacific, but the World War II submarine has an ocean’s worth of history. The 312-foot, 1,525-ton Cod — credited with sinking more than 12 enemy vessels — served as a naval reserve training vessel on the shores of Lake Erie from 1959 to 1971. Get your sea legs as you climb aboard the original hatchways and ladders to discover the crewmen’s bunk, captain’s chair and an open torpedo tube. 1201 N.
