Anglers need to be on their best piscatorial game in order to hit the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ daily limit of 30 yellow perch per person. But Cleveland has a secret weapon: The Cleveland Metroparks’ recently renovated East 55th Street Pier makes luring the green and yellow fish a day at the beach. The perch swim to shallow waters during spring to feed and spawn, and are known to school around the 1,200-foot-long platform jutting into the lake. Armed with a light rod (perch are nibblers, so you’ll want to feel each bite), a bucket of minnows from the nearby bait shop and downtown as a backdrop, a day on the lake turns into a net gain. 5555 N.
