The Must-Do List: Hunt for Ghosts at the Ohio State Reformatory

Think you can handle a night in the haunted prison?

The fun (or horror) begins once the guided portion of the overnight private ghost hunts at the Ohio State Reformatory ends. The lights go off, and there’s nothing but you, nearly 250,000 square feet of haunted prison and your flashlight. More than 200 prisoners, guards and others died here during the 94 years the Gothic structure served as a prison. Whether it’s the hair standing on the back of your neck or (gasp!) that lifelike shadow, it feels like they’re all haunting you. Head to the warden’s quarters, where Arthur Glattke’s wife, Helen, accidentally shot herself. Sometimes you can still smell the beer she brewed or her rose-scented perfume. 100 Reformatory Road, Mansfield, 419-522-2644, mrps.org
