Overflowing with twists and turns, Fatal Fried Rice, the seventh installation of Vivien Chien’s Cleveland-based Noodle Shop Mystery series ($7.99, St. Martin’s Publishing Group), isn’t an adventure one would want to miss. Lana Lee, manager of her family’s Chinese restaurant and amateur detective, can’t seem to stay out of trouble and finds herself entwined in yet another investigation. Enlisting help from the colorful characters in her life and allies in Asia Village, the culprit never stood a chance. Chien has a lively and addictive way of letting the story unfold, with readers pointing finger after finger as Lee uncovers the truth piece by piece.
