Music: MGK Day 2026 brings Wiz Khalifa to Cleveland for two-day celebration.

 MGK Day returns to Cleveland Aug. 7-8, with Machine Gun Kelly and Wiz Khalifa set to headline the MGK Day Art + Community Festival at North Coast Yard. The performance follows a summer spent together on MGK's Lost Americana North American Tour and the release of their collaborative mixtape, blog era boyz.

 Although Mayor Justin Bibb officially proclaimed Aug. 13 as MGK Day in 2023, this year's festivities will take place the weekend before.

 The Weekend Lineup: Festivities kick off Friday with the Red Bull Best Trick Contest at Crooked River Skatepark. Saturday brings a tailgate, the annual Harley-Davidson City Ride and the main festival at North Coast Yard, featuring local vendors, art, food trucks, live performances and fireworks.

 Back in Cleveland: The festival continues MGK's connection to his hometown, where he has opened 27 Club Coffee in the Flats East Bank and recently joined the ownership group behind the revival of Shooters on the Water.

Food & Drink: Longtime owner takes back Edison’s Pub from Hangry Brands.

Less than a year after Hangry Brands purchased Edison’s Pub, longtime owner Mark LaGrange has taken back possession of the roughly 40-year-old Tremont institution. The bar is temporarily closed as LaGrange works to regain access to the systems needed to run the business, but he hopes to reopen this weekend.

Change in Ownership: LaGrange says he reclaimed the bar after Hangry Brands failed to make payments under a security agreement. Hangry Brands confirmed that ownership has returned to the previous owner but declined to discuss the specific terms of the deal.

Hangry’s Response: The company says returning Edison’s to its former owner aligns with its strategy of focusing its efforts on Downtown Cleveland’s Gateway and Playhouse Square areas.

I can't argue with the weather cooling a bit and blue skies returning.  What I really like are warm days and cool nights, but beggars can't be choosers, right? I bring this up because now that we have turned the corner from the Fourth of July and back-to-school sales are posted — heck, my local Lowe's has Halloween decorations on display — it is time to get excited for the Guardians playoff push, the NFL and college football returning along with all of the fall high school sports.

Many of you know that I grew up in Pittsburgh, went to the University of Pittsburgh and, yes, I am a big Steelers fan. But what I like this time of year is that it feels like a restart to the year. The first day of school. I haven't bought No. 2 pencils (do they still use them?) or a college-ruled notebook for a while, but this is the time for that renewal.

So enjoy the weather, get your feet in the grass and prep for a brain refresh coming up.
