Forget those soggy tacos and drop the chopsticks. Balance Pan-Asian Grille has combined two of our favorite foods into our latest handheld obsessions — Asian tacos. In August, co-founders Prakash Karamchandani and HoChan Jang opened the Asian fusion eatery in downtown Cleveland as an extension of their Toledo restaurants.
Known for build-your-own bowls, more than 50 bubble teas (we’re fans of the purple taro milk) and packed-with-flavor tacos served on either blue corn or flour tortillas, it’s our new go-to lunch spot.
The Mongo Tacos ($7 for two) feature wok-seared steak on a thin layer of rich, Japanese mayo. Slathered in a sweet, smoky, charred Mongolian sauce, it’s topped with spiral-cut carrots and cilantro.
The newest option, the Orange Crunch ($7 for two) is smothered in a citrus Szechuan sauce with curry-glazed cashews, microgreens and crunchy noodles. “You don’t want a ton of competing flavors in a taco,” says Karamchandani. “You want every bite you eat to sing and shine through.” 515 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-523-1111, balancegrille.com
