It takes a village finds new meaning at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton. With each new addition to its 55 acres — bed-and-breakfast-style villas, the Crush House restaurant and winery and the Still House, a church-like distillery and coffee shop — the Tuscan-inspired estate becomes more of a charming countryside hamlet.
“It makes [visitors] feel at home,” says founder and owner Ted Swaldo. “And it gives them a lot of things to do.” But Gervasi’s most recent addition might be its most luxe. The Casa boutique hotel’s 24 rooms ($199 to $389 per night) have amenities that would make a Kardashian blush: plush linens, a heated tile floor, in-suite fireplaces and a complimentary Italian-style continental breakfast delivered to your room.
While the idea of buying a bottle of Gervasi-made wine at the Crush House and then retiring to your room is tempting, the private outdoor patio or courtyard common area are too alluring to pass up.
“There’s a fire pit out there,” Swaldo says of the courtyard. “At night you go there and you’ll find maybe 20 people sitting around who don’t even know each other having a bottle of wine and talking. That’s pretty cool.” 1700 55th St. NE, Canton, 330-497-1000, gervasivineyard.com
