Whether sipping an Apricatawba or channeling your inner Baker Mayfield with a Feeling Dangerous black lager, every Twin Oast Brewing creation deserves to be savored in person at its Catawba Island home.
The entire Smith family spent nearly a decade shaping this 60-acre farm estate into a destination brewery and 15-barrel brewhouse ahead of its 2018 opening. Driving up to Twin Oast, past idyllic orchards of cherry and apricot trees, visitors will find a pastoral escape that’s pure Catawba.
After swinging by the bar for a quick beer tasting from the 12 to 18 beers on tap, head out to the brewery’s expansive lawn for the full Twin Oast experience. The Smiths encourage guests to bring their own folding chairs and pick out the perfect spot — perhaps near the natural amphitheater that features live music on weekends, or for a quieter setting, alongside the natural limestone water feature.
No matter where you settle in, Twin Oast offers an open landscape that seems to stretch right into the sunset. During winter, when the northern Ohio scenery is more snow than spectacular, the brewery holds indoor beer pairing dinners.
“People tell us that it doesn’t feel like you’re in Ohio when you’re here,” says co-owner Cory Smith. “Our goal is to make you feel like you’re on vacation — beer in hand and not worried about anything else.” 3630 NE Catawba Road, Port Clinton, 419-573-6126, twinoast.com
