When planning your next soiree, skip the string lights. Fire and Light Performing Arts illuminates the night with a slew of hypnotic performances, from mesmerizing fire poi shows to glowing twirls from LED hula hoops and fans. Founded in 2014, the 12-person troupe specializes in flow arts: non-choreographed, movement-based art forms such as dance, juggling, fire-spinning and prop manipulation.
“If someone books us for LED or fire performance, they’re looking for that in-the-moment flow the artist creates with their work,” says Violette Robinson. “But otherwise, you’re just interacting with people and engaging them in the moment.”
It’s that engagement that sets Fire and Light apart — a warm, collaborative kind of entertainment that breaks down the strict walls between performer and audience member. Pick one (or more) of the troupe’s 10 specialties for your gala or benefit ($250 and up) to gab with a stilt walker or intricately costumed character actor, pluck a champagne flute from a performer’s iron hoop skirt, be captivated by a 2-foot fire fan or watch cascading lights on a dancer’s LED wings. Whatever you choose, Fire and Light specializes in the kind of magic you can (almost) touch. fireandlightarts.com
