Forget about ordering up Hola Tacos' Chile Colorado Burrito ($10.25) and trying to eat it on the go. No, you need to slow down, take a seat and enjoy this massive dish with a fork and knife.
Co-owner Alejandro Vergara wanted to add this burrito to the menu after taking a trip to Mexico City. “[We saw] a lot of different chiles in Mexico City, like the red chile — the chile Colorado,” says Vergara. “When we got home, we found the chiles and put it on the burrito.”
Made with your choice of meat (think al pastor, carne asada or chicken tinga cooked on a wood-fired grill), the flour tortilla burrito comes stuffed with Mexican rice and refried beans. It’s cooked on a flattop, smothered in a blend of chile Colorado and smoked red jalapeno, then topped with fresh radishes, cotija cheese and a healthy dose of cilantro.
The burrito has been a great addition to Hola Tacos as it expands from its first spot in Lakewood less than a year ago to a second location in Larchmere and another in Willoughby.
“There’s a lot of taco places in Cleveland, but none that give you that authentic Southern California vibe,” Vergara says. “You can really taste the difference.” Various locations, hola-tacos.com
