Freddie Coffey is all about liquid refreshment. As founder and chief leisure officer of BrewBoat CLE, Coffey navigates a 31-foot-long catamaran through the Cuyahoga River while alcohol-swilling guests sit at a middle bar and peddle to power a large rear paddle wheel. You and up to 13 of your closest friends can each bring 36 ounces of beer or 18 ounces of wine for the 2-hour sightseeing tour up and down the Cuyahoga. But don’t worry if you can’t peddle that long — it happens often. “We’ve noticed that halfway down everybody peddles, then usually halfway back, there’s a lot of dancing,” says Coffey. “We had a couple that was giving people samba lessons on the bow of our ship. Then that turned into a limbo as we were going through the Flats.” That’s when Coffey keeps it all smooth sailing by turning on the electric motor. “That’s our little secret,” he says. 5300 Whiskey Island, Cleveland, 440-941-6690, brewcle.com
