Fat T's Cookies
Travis Howe is giving his customers an early-morning excuse to indulge their sweet tooth with his Cinn City cookie ($2). The quarter-pound delight — about the size of a hockey puck — starts with a chocolate chip base before Howe twists up cinnamon- and brown sugar-coated dough on top just like the traditional breakfast treat. After baking, it’s topped with house-made cream cheese icing. “It’s the toughest thing in the world not to eat them while I’m making them,” he says. 330-715-9751, facebook.com/fattscookies
Fluffy Duck Cafe
While the chocolate chip cookie may be the star at Fluffy Duck Cafe, we bet you’ll shake your tail feather for owner Ben Woods’ oatmeal raisin cookie ($1.75). Baked fresh daily, he uses European butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, golden raisins, oats, eggs, organic flour and cinnamon for the underappreciated treat. “It’s soft, and chewy with a little crispiness on the outside,” he says. “It has a nice cinnamon flavor as well.” 10001 Chester Ave., Cleveland, 216-218-9447, fluffyduckcafe.com
Little Shop of Cookies
It’s all about the peanut butter at Little Shop of Cookies. Each variety starts with the same peanut butter cookie recipe that co-owner Britta Noonan has been using for 30 years. The English toffee cookie ($2) uses crushed Heath bars to create the perfect ratio of creamy chocolate to buttery toffee. “These cookies look like something that grandma would make,” says co-owner Shella Travarca, “that evokes that homey comfort feeling.” 530 Euclid Ave., Suite 15, Cleveland, 216-512-1987, littleshopofcookies.com
