Maybe you’ve come close to throwing a perfect 300 game. But can you conquer the art of duckpin bowling? With softball-sized bowling balls, short lanes and three turns per frame, it may look like an arcade version of standard tenpin. But balls without finger holes and weighted pins on strings turn the game on its head. We’re up for the challenge at Tremont’s Hi & Dry, where four lanes in the back room make it easy to create a league of your own. “It’s just a very social room, and it really lends itself to big groups,” says general manager Mark Bailey. You’ll find us practicing on Sundays during its 3-2-1 specials — $3 for the first game, $2 for the second and $1 for every match after that. Pro tip: If you want to impress your friends, family or date, Bailey says a lighter throw usually does the trick. “The way the pins and balls are weighted,” says Bailey, “a slower ball tends to bounce around more and hit more pins.” 2221 Professor Ave., Cleveland, 216-566-9463, hianddrycleveland.com
