Muhammed Abdullah has an eye for detail — very fine detail. The sunglasses designer and owner of Habibe Sunglasses toys with frame designs down to the millimeter to create his updated twists on classic shades. “To us, this is like an art,” says Abdullah. “Just one angle here can take something that would normally look too small on someone and give them a width where they can now wear a round frame.” The shades are as comfortable as they are chic, from the retro aviators ($120) to the John Lennon-eqsue rounders ($100). With customers including Dallas Cowboy Ezekiel Elliot, Habibe handcrafts its wooden frames in lightweight, exotic varieties such as ebony and zebrawood. Almost every component of a Habibe pair is handmade, from the frames to the signature soft-tint lenses made from cellulose acetate, also used by Prada and Louis Vuitton, that must be carefully hand-cut and polished from large blocks. From behind Habibe shades, the future looks bright. Beachwood Place, 26300 Cedar Road, Beachwood, 440-228-3560, eyewearhabibe.com
