With flavors including bourbon candied bacon, stout and peanut butter, and Jack and Coke, it’s safe to say Chill Artisan Ice Cream isn’t your typical ice cream shop. Patrick, Zachary and Jeremy Jaworksi launched their Medina spot more than a year ago with a focus on the frozen treat’s main ingredient: the cream. The brothers visited 50 creameries to examine how the cows were cared for before finding one in Pennsylvania that they now work with. “We want everything to be done the right way,” says Patrick. The brothers make nearly every ingredient and extract — think pie crusts, chocolates and even color extracts made from purple carrots and blue seaweed — that goes into their 32 varieties. With the success of flavors such as sage pecan and blueberry Brie, the family opened a second location in Akron this summer. “People love coming in and seeing something different every time,” says Patrick. “They’re surprised and then taken aback by how good it tastes.” 11 Public Square, Medina, 330-722-3035; 21 Maiden Lane, Akron, 330-649-2834, chill-icecream.com
