Lakiesha Smith, also known as Stoney, is the founder of My Loud Radio, a prison activist and prison advocate. She created awareness of the effects of COVID-19 on the incarcerated.
“It is radio that is for the people by the people,” she says. Smith gives voice to those in jail, whether it means going to talk to them in person or calling into her radio station. Having been incarcerated herself, Smith says she feels she must speak up for those in the shoes she once filled.
“People finally realize that even though people are in prison, they still have a voice, and they still have rights.”
