There’s always something new to listen to when it comes to Northeast Ohio’s music, and we feature a snippet of the scene in our Cleveland Current playlist, updated every month with a new mix of tunes.
In October, be sure to hear from:
Aka & Co.'s funky EP Miscellanea
The Baker's Basement's bouncy single "Singing To The Plants"
Ben Gage's rootsy album Roads I Missed
Ceci Taylor's latest country single "The One For Me"
Garrett Folger and Aidan Plank's jazzy, stripped-down self-titled duo album
Kramies' woozy new single from his upcoming album Goodbye Dreampop Troubadour
Red Devil Ryders' rollicking new track from their upcoming album Is It Love?
You'll also hear a new single which fuses Gambian and Cleveland talents. "Saaba Miniyamba, The Magic Python" is a collaboration between the renowned Suso family and Cleveland's Afi Scruggs, who traveled to Gambia two years to study with the group. Credited under Gambian singer Ida Ashley Cham, the song features Yusupha Suso on balafon, along with a team of Northeast Ohio musicians: Scruggs on keyboards, Gino Long on guitar, Myron Gardner on drums, Stefano Nguma on bass. Scruggs also produced the song, while David Kennedy audio engineered and mixed, and Skylar Keffer mastered, the track.
Expect five more songs from the collaborative effort.
