Surrounded by the lush, green, summery surroundings of Blossom Music Center, the setting for Tuesday night's show was anything but the wintery “Stick Season” that brought Noah Kahan to folk-pop stardom less than two years ago.
The viral success of the 2022 single, of course, led to the Stick Season album, and then to two album reissues — one of which, Stick Season (Forever) featured collaborations with fellow chart-toppers Post Malone, Hozier, Kacey Musgraves and more.
But Kahan is more than one song: That’s for sure.
At his Cuyahoga Falls show, the musician strummed through personal odes like “Your Needs, My Needs,” the sparsely acoustic “Strawberry Wine," the angsty "Northern Attitude" and the twangy “Paul Revere.” The singer, at times self-deprecating, also made a point to support mental health, advertising his “Busyhead Project,” which aims to support mental health initiatives within his fanbase.
The Gen Z singer, sporting his signature pair of braided pigtails, made a point to perform his song “New Perspective” (his only “Ohio-themed” song) early on, belting out the lyrics “You made Ohio feel just like Central Park” with a little extra gusto.
That energy was well-met in Blossom's sold-out crowd, which kicked off the venue's 2024 concert season with a jam-packed lawn and resounding singalongs with attendees.
And more than 20,000 people who attended this stop on the Stick Season tour had to wait until the very end of the night for its namesake song. Kahan saved the megahit for last — returning for a two-song encore that left the final notes of the folk-pop song ringing in attendees' ears, long after the show wrapped up.
