Tim Adkins, who operates nine Basement Sports Bar locations in Northeast Ohio as well as other bar and restaurant concepts, has shared his plans for the Battery Park complex that currently houses Terrestrial Brewing.
It was recently announced that the Brew Kettle, which had acquired Terrestrial and its assets in bankruptcy, had decided to sell the property to Adkins. The beer brand will live on as Brew Kettle intends to keep brewing it at its production facility.
As for Adkins, he says that he intends to move forward with construction within a week or so, despite Terrestrial’s recent claims that it will stick around through the summer. Attempts to reach Terrestrial founder Ralph Sgro were unsuccessful.
“I can tell you that the timeline is as soon as possible,” says Adkin. “I would imagine that by the end of this month we are going to start transitioning to the new concept.”

Once the space has been cleared out — including all of the brewing equipment — Adkins will begin construction on the Battery Park Tavern, which will feature two food concepts under one roof. He hopes to have the doors open sometime in June.
Instead of his approachable, affordable Basement Sports Bar spots, Adkins says that he is aiming a little higher at Battery Park. He said the finished product will look and feel more like the Town Tavern concepts he operates in Copley and Green.
“Something slightly more upscale than the Basement concept,” he says. “I want to cater to that neighborhood and what their needs are.”
On the other half of the building he plans to open a small-plates style eatery with lighter fare. The tavern space will open first, followed by the second concept.
Adkins also intends to complete the sort of multi-level patio on the rear of the building that Terrestrial had hoped to accomplish for years. That elevated patio, with views of the lake and sunset, will transition all the way down to a ground-level patio.
