Cleveland Ketchup Co. is changing the way you dip your fries and dress your burgers.
Launched in 2018, the local brand had debuted two versions of ketchup — a classic flavor and a ghost pepper version ($5.99 each). The latter has a spiciness that’s tamed by a smoky barbecue and a hint of bourbon flavor.
“It’s got a real nice spice to it, not something that lingers with you,” says co-owner Matt McMonagle. ”It’s hot, but it’s not burn-your-face-off hot.”
Use the condiment, which is free of high fructose corn syrup, to add some zing to your meatloaf or drizzle it over mac ‘n’ cheese. But if you’re more of a traditionalist, give the classic a spin on tots and hot dogs.
“People love the brand of ketchup they are used to; they don’t want to stray from that,” McMonagle says. “I think most of the people that try our ketchup say, ‘You know what, it really does taste good.’ It’s not something that’s totally different and totally out there.” clevelandketchup.business.site
