More than 250 local restaurants are offering takeout or delivery. Plus, the Cleveland Magazine staffers offers their picks.

While Governor Mike DeWine ordered all restaurants and bars in Ohio to shut down on March 15 due to COVID-19 or the coronavirus concerns, many spots have shifted to offering takeout and delivery ever since.

In an industry hit hard by the current pandemic, supporting local restaurants is important now more than ever. Many restaurants have opted to close temporarily during this time, while others have had to laid off employees until they can resume operations at full force. Many restaurants have set up donation pages for their employees or are asking for patrons to purchase gift cards during this difficult time.

If you’re searching for a way to give back or just looking for something to eat this weekend, we’ve got you covered. Cleveland Magazine has compiled a list of more than 250 restaurants offering either takeout or delivery. We’ve also included some of our staff picks, what we’ve been eating in the last week.

Staff Pick: AlPita Mediterranean Cuisine in Rocky River
Try This: Gyro Salad
Why We Love It: The other day, I texted my coronavirus credo to my coworker: “I’m not going to deprive myself of good food and drink when I’m depriving myself of everything else!” Unfortunately, this may have been said to justify gorging out of Clorox-wiped pizza boxes alone in my apartment. But at AlPita, I have options. This salad lets me pair warm, spiced gyro meat (choose between beef, chicken or lamb) with an actually robust salad of chopped romaine, plump cherry tomatoes, fresh cucumber and onions, with an option to add avocado and/or feta. Try This: Christmas Ale Fry Cake
Why We Love It: Brewnuts makes me happy, and when I got the text that they did a special Christmas Ale fry cake, I just had to get me one. They did a special release because people have been putting up holiday decorations to make things a bit happier at home. That and they had some Christmas Ale on hand. Try This: Chicken curry with a side of naan
Why We Love It: Sure it may seem like a basic go-to for fans of Indian cuisine, but you can control your spice level from no spice to extra spicy. I’m more of a medium gal, which is still pretty adventurous in my book. What I love the most is the piping hot naan dipped in raita, a yogurt sauce spiced with onions, tomatoes and cucumber. Why We Love It: Even if music venues weren’t taking a hit right now, they’d still literally have grandma back there cooking her super saucy deep-dish pizza and perfectly breaded fish fry. The cooks came from Bender’s Tavern, Canton’s oldest restaurant, to keep the Lenten tradition alive during this time. Staff Pick: Sichuan Hot Pot in AsiaTown
Try This: Dumplings in chili sauce
Why We Love It: When my wife and I eat Chinese food, we try to avoid ordering Americanized stuff. It’s often not good. But after days of cooking green veggies at home like a grotesque health nut, I craved a calorie bomb. Something like what we used to order three times a week from Amazing Wok in East Cleveland when we were in college. This time, we ordered crab Rangoons, General Tso’s chicken and scallion pancakes — which are not normally found on an American-Chinese menu. The same goes for the meaty dumplings (pork, I think?), coated in a chili oil that tasted like fivespice and Sichuan pepper. They set my mouth and nose into a lowkey tingle and disappeared in less than two minutes. I’m dreaming of them now as I sadly eat yet another healthy lunch. Sigh. — Sheehan Hannan, associate editor
