Winks Bar and Grille // Stick with what works. That mentality is what the people behind the Winking Lizard took to heart when unveiling their latest concept, Winks Bar and Grille, this past October inside the Galleria downtown. You'll still find a heavy emphasis on sports and beer here with plenty of TVs to catch every game and 33 craft beers on tap. But the slight difference is the spot's celebration of local food, spirits and wine from Ohio and surrounding states. To start things off, order the beer cheese dip ($8.29) served with garlic crostinis. Made with aged white cheddar, cream cheese, red peppers and a rotating local IPA such as Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA, it has just the right amount of kick. For another taste of regional cuisine, try the langostino lobster flatbread pizza ($9.29) with locally grown corn, roasted tomatoes and asparagus paired with tender langostinos, a crustacean related to crabs, on top of a creamy white cheddar sauce. If you've had too many craft beers the night before, head back for "The Hangover" burger ($10.99). The cross between a breakfast sandwich and a burger is loaded with applewood smoked bacon, thick-cut ham, a crispy hash brown, an over-easy egg, and American and Muenster cheeses. If that doesn't cure what ails you, we don't know what will.
