Created to help women reduce their risk for heart disease, this new magazine cookbook will feature information about the Go Red For Women movement, inspiring stories, dozens of new recipes, full-color photos and more. It will be distributed in grocery-store checkout areas across the United States in February 2007 to coincide with American Heart Month.
The delectable and easy-to-follow recipes are based on the American Heart Association’s dietary guidelines, which help readers achieve a balanced, nutritious diet. Appetizing full-course menus are also provided.
Other exciting features include “Get Involved,” which provides information on American Heart Association programs and resources to help women stay heart healthy. “Tales From the Heart” includes real-life stories of women whose experiences have given them insight on how to take control of their heart health.
Cardiovascular disease kills more than 480,000 women a year, roughly one woman per minute. Moreover, cardiovascular disease claims more lives than the next six leading causes of death combined, including cancer. Yet, only 13 percent of women are aware that heart disease is their No. 1 health threat.
The digest-size publication complements the association’s Go Red For Women movement, which raises awareness of cardiovascular disease’s threat to women in the United States.
