As autumn descends across the Land, many are searching for last-minute outdoor entertainment. Luckily, Lake Metroparks Farmpark has constructed its annual corn maze with 10- to 12-foot-wide paths.
Open Friday-Sunday until Oct. 18, the maze meets local health department standards and Gov. Mike DeWine’s safety regulations. “You could literally drive a semi-truck down these lanes,” says Andy McGovern, Lake Metroparks Farmpark event manager.
For the last three years, McGovern and his team have been tasked with the initial drawing and planning of the Farmpark’s maze, keeping up with a 30-year-old tradition of creating a number of themes involving pirates, aliens and more.
Due to the aisles’ immense size and limited 3-acre space, this year’s maze runs a basic design, but McGovern warns that does not make the challenge easy as there are a lot of dead ends. “You can’t get a frame of reference, so it’s a little harder,” he says. 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland, 440-256-2122, lakemetroparks.com
