Q| What would the Etch A Sketch's inventor say about your work?
He probably never would have thought that what I'm doing on the Etch A Sketch would be possible. I think he looked at it as a toy.
Q| How would your life be different if it hadn't been invented?
I'd probably be doing a lot more painting. The Etch A Sketch has opened a lot of doors for me, though. It's given me the opportunity to showcase my artistic talent. People look at my work and say, "If he can do that on an Etch A Sketch, I wonder what else he can do."
Q| What do you remember about the first time you picked one up?
I drew the U.S. Capitol building on it while in the car, and my parents were so surprised, we pulled over at a gas station to take a picture of it before my little brother could get his hands on it and shake it.
Q| Do you think the Etch A Sketch will be around 50 years from now?
Absolutely. ... I work on the computer a lot, but there's still nothing better than picking up an Etch A Sketch and making [art] with it right in my own hands.
