Education: Doctoral degree in physical education, Indiana University; master’s degree in sports administration, Ohio University; bachelor’s degree in journalism and physical education, Valparaiso University
How I Approach My Day: I begin with exercise and quiet contemplation and reflection. I focus on tasks that must be accomplished that day and ask myself, “what am I doing to make a difference?”
Favorite Quote: “I will study and prepare myself, and someday the chance will come.” — Abraham Lincoln
What Motivates Me Right Now: My concern that as an enterprise, intercollegiate athletics at the Division I level is losing its focus on its role within higher education
What Would Surprise Someone to Learn About Me: I make an exceptional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, ham, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, peas and onions, stuffing, rolls, apple crisp and pecan pie).
Outside of Work You’ll Find Me: Exercising, cooking and reading
A Cleveland Spot I Recommend: Jogging through Downtown Cleveland on a quiet Saturday/Sunday morning
