Renato Camacho

President & CEO, Akron-Canton Airport

Education: Master’s degree in transportation planning and engineering; bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

How I Approach My Day: Each day focuses on priorities that will drive the greatest impact — especially those that allow for growth and create new opportunities. The use of technology and innovation is always at the forefront, proactively challenging assumptions and looking for better ways to move the business forward.

What Success Looks Like to Me: Success is achieving sustained growth while staying true to our guiding principles.

What Would Surprise Someone to Learn About Me: I played a Puerto Rican percussion instrument known as a güiro with my dad and brothers in The Bronx as a kid. My dad composed songs and we would go on “parrandas” (Christmas caroling) during the holidays.

An Important Lesson I Learned: I worked for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey from 1993-2007, which owned and operated the World Trade Center. After 9/11, a harsh reminder to cherish your family and friends always. I lost many colleagues that day. I’m always grateful to have played a small part in the rebuilding of the current World Trade Center site.
