Akron Art and Ale
Diane Arbus and pilsner, you say? Now celebrating a decade of pop Art and hop art, the Akron Art Museum brings together some of Ohio’s top brewmasters — from Thirsty Dog and Elysian — and some of the best area’s artisan food and drinks such as Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar and NORKA. Plus, it’s a chance to view the museum’s latest exhibits, Gross Anatomies, ceramic pieces with grotesque interpretations of the human form, and The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose, which celebrates the art magazine. $50, March 10, 6 p.m., 1 S. High St., Akron, akronartmuseum.org
Svet and Siahna
Svet, the wife-beater wearing electro violinist, is probably the sveltest string musician of his kind. And he’s coming to the Beachland Tavern, a part of the America’s Got Talent contestant’s 60-city tour, one featuring a set of hip-hop and pop tracks laced with Svet’s one-of-a-kind take on string vibrato — shown on songs such as “Art of Seduction” and “String Theory.” Plus, also catch indie-pop artist and The Voice alum Siahna. $15, March 11, 8:30 p.m., 15711 Waterloo Road, beachlandballroom.com
Wild & Scenic Film Fest
The wildest touring film festival to stop in Cleveland features documentaries on earthy topics from collectors of plankton to controversial Chinese dam builders and one of the best fly-fishers to come out of Montana waters. Of course, trail mix shall be served in concessions. $25, March 11, 3-10:30 p.m., Cleveland Museum of Natural History, 1 Wade Oval Drive, Cleveland, cmnh.org
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday
The quirky film hits the big screen with a new element: a fun, circus-style score by Devo co-founder and Akron native Mark Mothersbaugh. The Contemporary Youth Orchestra performs the piece as the Netflix movie plays on. $18, March 11, 7 p.m., Cleveland State University, Waetjen Auditorium, 2001 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, cyoorchestra.org
Patti Smith Plays Horses
Before Patti Smith became a celebrated memoirist, she recorded Horses, one of the most iconic albums written by the female poet and rocker. Smith is bringing the 1978 album back with the original band members: guitarist Lenny Kaye, drummer Jay Dee Daugherty and bassist Tony Shanahan, who were a part of Smith’s memorable performance at the Agora Theatre and Ballroom nearly 40 years back. Fans, act fast, this reunion might not happen again any time soon. $29-$59, March 12, 8 p.m., Playhouse Square, State Theatre, 1519 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, playhousesquare.org
