Nearly 250 people gathered in the West 117th Street Taco Bell parking lot for the second annual “Baja Blast” punk concert.
The cohesive sounds of Necroprophecy, Razorblade and Body Farm set the tone, and moshes, food fights and fireworks kept the energy afloat.
“It’s silly, kind of,” says organizer Mitch Frear. “We show up in a parking lot, there’s tacos being thrown … but to see everyone happy really makes it worthwhile.”
Part of a band themselves, Frear knows the power of the local punk scene and harnessed it with these shows.
“I never thought a manic idea I’d have would catch on like this,” they say. “It’s becoming something that’ll hopefully be immortalized in the Cleveland music scene.”
